[London. July 28.] Copy of a letter from Capt. Henry
Strangeways, of the Salamander Privateer, wrote at sea, on
the 12th instant; concerning, the Dispatch Privateer of
Bristol.
Last night being on a cruize the Isle of Bass bearing
S.S.W. according to computation, 10 leagues, seeing a
vessel, we gave chace, and at 11 we hailed her in French,
which she answered in the same language; we asked her from
whence she came, she told us from Rochell, bound to Morlaix,
and her lading salt; we immediately gave her three English
huzza's our drums beating, and French horns playing, Britons
strike home! We intended to board him, but he fir'd at us
directly, and gave us a full broadside. . . .
