Extract of a letter from a gentleman in Philadelphia, dated
November 12. . . Tuesday last a sloop from Edenton, North-
Carolina, bound to this state, was taken off Rhode-Island by
a small privateer from New York.--Two of the crew have since
arrived here; one of them informs, that he was in
Charlestown about three weeks since, when the enemy were
continuing their preparations to evacuate the place; and
that he saw a number of large bells, which they had taken
from the places of worship, embarked in boats.
