Philadelphia, July 7.  On Sunday last, being the anniversary
of the independence of America, his excellency the president
and the honorable the members of congress, attended divine
worship . . . At noon the president and member of congress,
with the president and chief magistrates of this state, and
a number of other gentlemen and ladies, went, by invitation
from the honorable the minister of France, to the Catholic
chapel, where this great event was celebrated by a well
adapted discourse pronounced by the minister's chaplain, and
Te Deum solemnly sung by a number of very good voices,
accompanied by the organ and other kinds of music. . .
  The company were entertained with music, and the following
toasts. . .
