London, March 26. Friday morning Sir Charles Hardy Knt. and
Vice-Admiral of his majesty's fleet, attended by
Commissioner Hanway and several gentlemen, the mayor,
aldermen, common-council, and freemen of the city of
Rochester, repaired to the court hall at that place, where
Sir Charles was unanimously elected member for that city, in
the room of Lord Parker, now Earl of Macclesfield. After
the election was over, a very elegant and plentiful dinner
was provided for the gentlemen, &c. and in the evening a
ball was given for the entertainment of the ladies.
