York-Town, December 17, 1774.  Whereas a certain Petrus
Henricus Kalkhoffer, a Palatine passenger, by the brig
Betsey, Andrew Bryson, master, from Rotterdam, for the sum
of 35:14:14 pounds, lawful money of Pennsylvania, for his
passage, paid by doctor John Houston; he, the said Petrus
Henricus, hath put and bound himself servant to the said
John Houston, to serve him, his executors, administrators
and assigns, . . . [12 lines describing his escape] and
plays the German flute very well, . . . [10 lines].
