Baltimore Town, September 19, 1769.  Forty pounds reward.
Broke goal last night, about eleven o'clock, the following
prisoners, viz. . . [21 lines, 5 escapees] Robert Coale, a
Negroe, who pretends to be a free man, but is the property
of David Chevis, of Caroline county, Virginia, whose house
and property he destroyed by fire, in April, 1767, for which
he was sentenced to die. . . [6 lines] he is about 26 years
of age, of a good countenance,, is a very civil handy
fellow, can wait at table, and plays the fiddle with his
left hand, . . . [17 lines, signed] Damniel Chalmer, Sheriff
of Baltimore County.
