Old Church School-house, February 29, 1765. Whereas it is
hinted, that some persons have taken umbrage at Mr. Joseph
Garner's late advertisement, in not admitting any person
except parents or guardians to attend so solemn, as well as
useful, an undertaking; he therefore thinks it incumbent on
him, to assure the public in general, that his motive was,
and still is, to propagate an useful knowledge, or rather an
accomplishment, which he humbly hopes cannot be contained
without a necessary observance of strict decorum. As it may
therefore be satisfactory, he proposes to keep open his
singing school, for the reception of every person of repute,
the first Monday of every ensuing month.
N.B. there will, at the same time, be repeated some speeches
by the people of said school.
