[In a letter from Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick's head
quarters at Cleves, report of operations of the army under
his command.] . . . The Hussars, supported by the
Volunteers, surprized at first some patroles, which were
made prisoners of war; and still continuing to advance,
defeated the cavalry that shewed themselves, and took a pair
of kettle-drums and standard from the regiment of Bellefond.
