[Extract from Colden's History of the Five Indian Nations. 
Narrative of execution of Indian prisoners:]  But the
Indians, after they had heard their sentence, refused to
hear the Jesuits speak, and began to prepare for death in
their own country manner, by singing their death song. . .
[5 lines]  While they tortured him, he continued singing,
that he was a warrior, brave and without fear; that the most
cruel death should not shake his courage. . . [3 lines] that
he had the comfort to reflect, that he had made many
Frenchmen suffer as he did now.
. . . [1/2 column, another execution]  The prisoner all this
while continued his death song. . .
