. . . on account of General Johnson's victory over the
French near Lake George.
  And on Monday evening, the gentlemen of the army, daily
expecting orders to march, made a grand entertainment and a
ball for the ladies and gentlemen of the city, at the State-
House; where every thing was conducted with the greatest
decorum and elegance.
