Fort Cumberland, March 20, 1755.  Whereas the selling of
whiskey, and other spirituous liquors, to the troops posted
here, by private persons not thereunto authorized, hath been
found very prejudicial to his Majesty's service, . . . [6

   General Orders of the Day.
That no rum or whisky be brought into this camp, or opened
for sale near it, without an express order from the
commanding officer. . . [7 lines]  If any other person be
found retailing spirituous liquors in the camp, or to any
soldier near it, if a soldier, to be punished as a disturber
of the publick peace, and if no soldier, to be drummed out
of the camp, and not to return; . . . [6 lines]
