Halifax, Nova-Scotia, . . . Jan. 26. A few days ago a
soldier belonging to Col. Warburton's Regiment, having no
inclination to do any further duty, but to live an idle
life, cut off one of his thumbs in hopes to obtain the
benefits of chelsea Hospital. He was taken into custody and
try'd at a Court Martial, which sentenced him to receive
1000 lashes, and to be drumm'd out of the regiment; 500 of
which he has received, and the remainder he is to receive in
a few days.
