Tuesday night his Grace the Duke of Hamilton gave a very splendid ball, at his Grace's lodgings in Holyrood House, to a grand company of nobility and gentry; after which there was a most elegant and sumptious entertainment, consisting of 452 dishes, one half of which was served up hot, besides the desert, which consisted of 300 more. The table was 110 feet ling, and the whole was conducted with the greatest decorum and elegance. |
