London, March 12.  The shock of the earthquake which was
felt on the 8th instant, was very sensibly felt in Essex, as
far as Epping, and at the following places, viz. Bromley, as
far as Chrisleburst, Beckenham, and Croydon; at the two last
mentioned places it occasioned the hammers of the clocks to
strike upon the bells; . . .
