London.  October 18. . . At the trials of the rebel
prisoners at Carlisle, it appeared that John Balantine, who
pleaded not guilty, had acted as a piper in Capt. James
Stewart's Company, in Lord George Murray's Regiment; but
several witnesses proving that he was forced into the
service, by a party of the rebels, who took him by violence
out of his bed. . . [he was declared not guilty.]
