Operations of the Russian Army against Oczakow [defended by
the Turks of the Ottoman Empire] . . . [1/3 column]
The 13th, at break of day, the greatest part of the city
appear'd in a flame, the artillery having continued firing
all night:  Our generals thought it fit to make the most of
that event, and to that end the fire of the cannon and
mortars were redoubled; half the army, which was under arms,
advanced towards the place, drums beating, and colours
flying, making in appearance all the necessary dispositions
for a general assault, . . .
