Irish-born rake. Moves to London, then Europe.]
1719. Visited all the curiosities at Rome; contracted an
acquaintance with the most eminent musicians, and other
learned men.  Commenc'd Virtuoso, purchased a genuine
medallion of Pescenius Niger, a Cremona fiddle, and the
picture of a famous courtesan, drawn by Guido, and stolen
out of a church. . .
