On Thursday last, his Majesty's birth-day, the noblemen and
gentlemen were chiefly at court in brown coloured flowered
velvets. . . [1 column with details of clothing and head-
dresses]
  The ball on Thursday night was opened with French dancing,
by his Royal Highness the Duke of Cumberland, who danced
with her Royal Highness the Princess Amelia, and then his
Royal Highness the Prince of Wales danced with her Royal
Highness the Princess Carolina;  the country dances were
began by his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, with the
Countess of Pembroke; his Majesty left the ball-room a
little after twelve, and soon after the company broke up.
