Extract of a letter from the Hague, dated June 13. N.S.
In mine of this day sen'night, I wrote you some account of
the progress the detestable sin of sodomy had lately made in
these countries; and there were seven young persons under
prosecution for the same. . . [18 lines, these were
executed.] But considering the number of persons already in
prison upon this score, and the discoveries that are daily
made of their accomplices, this execution may be regarded
only as the prologue to the Tragedy that is likely to ensue,
upon mens calling so loud for vengeance on their own heads.
However, there is Bailiff ---, and Seigneur ---. and Parson
---, and Mynheer ---, and Lieutenant ---, &c. &c. &c.  and a
great many more &c.'s gone off upon this atrocious charge;
and the gentlemen whose names are at present eclipsed by
obscure ---s, have in vain been summoned before the court of
Holland by sound of bell, and beat of drum; of whom you may
hear more hereafter.
