Moscow, Dec. 20. N.S.  The ceremony of the Czar's betrothing
with the Princess Katherine Alexiewna Dolgorucki, was
performed in the following manner. . . [1 1/2 column,
participants, procession to palace.]  Prince Dolgorucki,
Lord Chamberlain, took hold of that Princess's hand, as she
alighted out of the coach, and led her into the hall; the
guards presented their pieces, but the drums did not beat. 
Upon the Princess's entring the hall, begun an agreeable
consort of musick; and as soon as she had taken her place, . 
. . [3 lines, various dignitaries] went and waited upon the
Czar, who came with the sound of trumpet, . . . [17 lines,
prayers, rings blessed and given, compliments of nobility
given.]  At the same time, the trumpets sounded, and the
artillery fired 3 rounds. . . [6 lines, fireworks,
illuminations.]  All the illustrious company being returned
into the hall, there was a play and a ball, which lasted not
long. . . [5 lines, procession back to palace;] her Highness
was in the coach alone, and the drums saluted her as she
passed by.
