Manhatawney, Feb. 16. Sir, I send you the following account
of what was transacted very lately at an Indian town called
Catawassie, on Susquahanna River.
The Shawana Indians has been at war with a nation of
Indians that live to the southwest of Virginia, and had
taken three prisoners: . . . [5 lines] they made the
prisoner sing and dance for some time, . . . [then tortured
him]
