. . . that religion was the beauty of conversation, and
assisted to make it pleasant and agreeable; that without it
company was empty, discourse unprofitable, society
unpleasant; and in short, that conversation, without a
mixture of something regarding religion, and a due
connection with it, was like a dance without musick, a song
without measure; like poetry without quantity, . . .
