In Council of Safety, Philadelphia, Nov. 1, 1776.
Garrison Orders to be observed  by the troops quartered in
the barracks of the city of Philadelphia.
I. The reveille to be beat every morning at break of day,
the troop at eight, and a long roll at nine o'clock for the
guards to parade.
II. From the first of May to  the last of September, the
retreat must be beat at eight o'clock in the evening, and at
sunset from the first day of October to the last day of
April, the tattoo always at nine o'clock.
III. At retreat beating all under the degree of a
commissioned officer must repair to the barracks, when the
roll of each company is to be called, and every person
absent reported to the commanding officer.  No person who is
not a commissioned officer to be permitted to go out of the
barracks till reveille.
IV. No drum to beat to arms in the barracks, but in case of
an alarm, when the whole garrison is to turn out, and draw
up under arms.
