Cambridge, May 12.  The following is taken from a manuscript
account of the fire that happened in Boston last Wednesday
night.
[Report of fire in the British barracks]
Instead of ringing the bells as usual, the soldiers beat to
arms, by which the people were in great confusion, not being
used to such signals in time of fire.
