London, Oct. 29. Thursday night a very singular interment
was performed at the Parish Church of Saint John's,
Hersleydown. An old waterman, aged 72, had ordered his
funeral, which passed as follows:
The Parish children singing hymns.
The Body
The pall supported by six watermen in coats and badges.
Chief Mourner.
A porter carrying a pair of sculls painted black; a knot,
half black half white; and six brushes used for painting the
bottoms of the boats. . .
