London, Feb. 10. [Report of the aftermath of the death of
the Princess of Wales]
Upon the above melancholy occasion, St. Paul's great bell,
on which the clock strikes was tolled from 11 to past 12
o'clock, when the clapper, which weighed upwards of an
100lb. weight, broke into two pieces, and of course the
tolling ceased, which was to have continued until 1 o'clock.
The playhouses, the opera-houses, and places of public
diversion will be shut up for some time.
