At a time when Liberty has erected her standard, and her
trumpet is sounded by every true-born son, I need no apology
for offering myself a volunteer, under so great so glorious
a leader; and if my zeal in the service of my noble mistress
should urge me to an unexpected attach, I shall trust to the
justice of the cause, to vindicate the rashness of the
