PART OF THE 148TH PSALM PARAPHRAS'D.
  I.
Begin the high celestial strain,
Bright Seraphims, and sing
Triumphant songs of grateful praise
To Heav'ns eternal King.
  II.
Thou lamp of unexhausted light
That rules the genial day,
Shine, with the silver Queen of Night;
His praises to display.
  III.
Ye glimmering orbs that gild the skies,
When darkness veils the light
Proclaim the glories of your Lord,
In watches of the night.
  IV.
Ye murmuring streams his praise repeat,
When thro' the vales ye flow;
Bend down your heads ye lofty pines,
And praise him as ye blow.
  V.
Young zephyrs bear on all your wings,
His glorious name away
To distant shores, and foreign climes,
The lofty theme convey.
  VI.
Thunder, and lightning, fire, and hail
Swift heralds of the Lord,
In all your dreadful forms appear,
To speak his mighty word.
  VII.
Vast monsters of the raging deep
Praise ye his awfull name,
Let all the brute creation praise
The God from whom they came.
  VIII.
Mortals assume a nobler strain,
While meaner creatures siing,
Chant thro' the wide-extended world;
The glories of your King.
