Philadelphia, April 23.  Wednesday last the sheriff,
accompanied by the magistrates of this city, made
proclamation, at the court house of the cessation of
hostilities, amidst a vast concourse of people, who
expressed their satisfaction on the happy occasion, by
repeated shouts.  At the same time the state flag was
hoisted at Market-Street wharf, the bells were rung, and a
