Albany, 28th June, 1782.  When the Corporation went to
present their address [to General Washington], they
proceeded, in procession, from the City-Hall.  At 6 o'clock,
P.M. the bells of all the churches began to ring, and
continued their joyful peals until sun set, when thirteen
cannon were discharged from the fort, and the city
illuminated.
