Albany, November 3, 1781.  This day we celebrated the
surrender of Cornwallis and his army.  At ten o'clock all
the bells in town began to ring, and continued their joyful
peals for four hours incessantly; while the American and
French colours were displayed from the fort, and divers
other parts of the city. . .
