[From the Halifax Journal, August 1.] On Sunday the 20th
ult. his Excellency Governor Parr arrived in his Majesty's
ship La Sophee off Point-Carleton, in Port-Roseway, and soon
after landed to view the post. . . [36 lines describing
celebrations, toasts for Loyalists settling in Nova scotia,
etc.] On Wednesday his Excellency with his suite, attended
by Captains Mowat and Elphinstone, of the Royal Navy, dined
at the house of Justice Robertson, with the principal
inhabitants. In the evening a public supper and ball was
given by the town, and conducted with the greatest festivity
and decorum, which did not break up till five o'clock next
morning, when his Excellency returned on board the Sophee,
as highly pleased with the entertainment as the company
appeared gratified and delighted by his presence.
