[News via London] Extract of a letter from Deal, June 19.
"This morning at 11 o'clock was brought on shore (attended
by the officers of his ship, and the Admiral and Captains of
the squadron in the downs, in their respective barges, &c.)
the remains of Philemon Pownall, Esq; late Captain of his
Majesty's ship Apollo. . . [2 lines] On the corpse being
landed on the beach opposite the King's buildings, a
detachment of the West Middlesex militia were drawn up on
each side, and formed a lane, thro' which the corpse passed
preceded by the militia band of music. . . "
