[London] Extract of a letter from Tunbridge, Aug. 10.
"Friday se'nnight last, at the ball at Tunbridge, the ladies
were thrown into the most ludicrous consternation by the
inclemency of the evening: The thunder and lightning were so
tremendous, that every gentleman in course became anxious
for the safety of her he loved best. . . "[Remainder of
letter describes the ladies' pulling out the black pins in
their "head-dresses" and the resulting accumulation of
curls, etc. left on the floor.]
