Extract of a letter from Savannah, in Georgia, dated
February 7. "We have now, and have had for some time past
two, three and four men of war in our port, one of which is
stationed here. . . [17 lines] There was a brig seen off the
inlet last Monday morning about eight o'clock, which made a
signal for a pilot to come, but did not get one.  This
morning several guns were heard off the inlet, and the beat
of drums."
