In the Committee of Safety for the colony of New-York,
during the recess of the Provincial Congress, July 15th,
1775.  Agreed and ordered, that Mr. Herman Zedtwitz shall be
Major, and is hereby appointed Major in the first Regiment
of the troops now raising in this colony.  [Zedtwitz,
violinist--frequent performer in New-York. Signed] A true
copy from the minutes, Robert Benson, Secretary.
