St. George's Day. Rule Britannia, &c. Those gentlemen who
are desirous of celebrating that anniversary with decent and
proper festivity, by having a handsome dinner for
themselves, and a ball and supper at night for the ladies,
on subscribing one guinea each, which it is to be hoped will
more than sufficiently answer the purpose, are desired to
leave their names at Hugh Gaine's, printer, on or before the
3d of April, that proper stewards may be chosen to conduct
the whole proceedings. N.B. Should any surplus arise, it
may be disposed of by bestowing it upon proper objects; and
as it happens in Easter week, an occasional sermon, with
anthems suitable, would not disgrace the ceremony.
