[Genoa] July 29. A few weeks a ago, the son of a nobleman,
being enamoured of an opera dancer, presented her, at their
first private interview, with 100 Louis d'Ors; nevertheless,
she very soon after requested a fresh supply; upon which he
declared that the last Louis was gone: The lady said, that
she supposed he could write, and call for pen, ink and
paper, by her agaceries engaged him to give her a draught
for 4000 guineas. The youth knowing that the affair must
come to his father's knowledge, resolved to relate the whole
story to him himself. The father knew the value of money:
He went immediately to the lieutenant of the police, and
complained of the lady's having seduced his son, and
defrauded him of 4000 guineas. The lieutenant, being
sensible that the court did not chuse to disoblige the
father, sent for the opera dancer, and obliged her to give
up the draught.
