On Monday last being St. Andrew's Day, the Scots Society
held their anniversary meeting, when the Earl of Sterling
was chosen president, and a considerable sum was collected
for the use of the poor. The member of the society dined
together as usual, and in the evening a splendid ball and
entertainment was given to the principal ladies and
gentlemen in town; the company was very numerous, every
thing was conducted with the greatest regularity and
decorum, and the whole made a most brilliant and elegant
appearance.
