The original of the above, from Lieut. Colonel Grant, sent
to us yesterday by his honour the governor, for publication,
was brought to town on Monday evening:  By the bearer
whereof we received may letters from our friends, officers
in the army, from which are the following extracts: . . .
[1/2 paragraph] mean time the troops having received a gill
of rum, and one days biscuit per man, had orders to be ready
to march without pipe or drum, and to carry nothing but
their arms and the said allowance for the march, leaving the
baggage under the command of Captain Peter Gordon (being our
oldest captain) . . .
