col] . . . I have heard of an officer, who when he was upon
any out-guard or post where no company could be had, when
night came on called in his serjeant, and if he answered
this previous question, were you ever a servant or a
drummer? in the negative, he was ordered to sit down, and be
his companion, for that night only:
