[An account of the events surrounding the arrival of the
Right Honourable the Earl of Dunmore, governor. Procession
and formalities of installation] From the City-Hall his
Lordship, attended as before, repaired to Bolton's Tavern,
where another elegant entertainment was provided by his
Honour our worthy Lieutenant Governor, at which his
Excellency the Governor, . . . [5 lines of names attending]
and many of the most respectable gentlemen of the city
dined. After dinner the healths of his Majesty, the royal
family, with many other loyal and patriotic toasts, were
again given and drank. His Lordship in the evening was
pleased to favour the gentlemen of the city and army with
his company at a ball, which consisted of a splendid and
brilliant appearance of gentlemen and ladies. The city was
handsomely and genteelly illuminated, and every other
demonstration of the sincerest joy given, that a loyal and
affectionate people could demonstrate upon so interesting
