By permission of his Excellency the Governor.  For the
benefit of Mrs. Douglass. (Positively the last night.) At
the Theatre in John-Street, this evening, being the 2d of
June, will be presented, (by particular desire) a tragedy,
written by Mr. Jones, call'd, 
The Earl of Essex.
Essex, by Mr. Hallam,  Southampton, by Mr. Douglass, 
Burleigh, by Mr. Morris,  Raleigh, by Mr. Tomlinson, 
Lieutenant of the Tower, by Mr. Woolls,  Queen Elizabeth, by
Mrs. Harman,  Countess of Nottingham, by Miss Hallam, 
Countess of Rutland, by Miss Cheer,  The original Epilogue,
by Miss Cheer, with entertainments, viz.
End of the play, will be exhibited a specimen of Mr. Foote's
Oratory of the Bar.
Which will be illustrated by an Interlude, call'd,
The Trial of Fanny the Phantom, or the Cock-Lane Ghost.
The Orator and Peter Paragraph, (a noted printer in Dublin)
by Mr. Wall,  Irish Serjeant, by Mr. Douglass,  Counsellor
Prosequi, by Mr. Tomlinson,  Shadrach Bodkin, by Mr. Morris, 
The Justice, by Mr. Woolls. Singing by Miss Hallam and Mr.
Woolls.
To which will be added, a comedy, in three acts, taken from
Shakespear's 
Taming of the Shrew, call'd, Catharine and Petruchio.
Petruchio, by Mr. Hallam,  Baptista, by Mr. Tomlinson, 
Hortentio, by Mr. Douglass,  Biondello, by Mr. Wall,  Musick
Master, by Mr. Raworth,  Grumio, by Mr. Morris,  Bianca, by
Mrs. Wall,  Curtis, by Mrs Harman,  Catharine, by Miss
Cheer. Between the acts of the comedy, (by particular
desire) Through the Wood Laddie, by Miss Wainwright, in
character.
To begin exactly at half an hour after six o'clock.  Vivat
Rex & Regina.  Tickets, to be had at the usual places, and
of Mrs. Douglass, opposite the Theatre.
