Paris, July 29. We had a few weeks ago a remarkable
instance of English oeconomy exhibited here by a person of
distinction. It is as follows: His son being at the opera,
was charmed with the agility and person of one of our opera
dancers, whom he afterwards engaged tete a tete, for which
he presented her with 100 louis d`ors; and, upon her
requesting a supply of her finances, he declared the last
louis was gone. . . [6 lines] The Lieutenant, being sensible
this court did not choose to disoblige the father, sent for
the opera dancer, and obliged her to give up the draught.
