Charles-Town, in South-Carolina, June 12. Extract of a
letter from a gentleman at Kingston in Jamaica, dated May
6th, 1755. . . On the 21st instant it will be a century
since we have been in possession of this island, when we are
to have a jubilee of three days, to commemorate that happy
event: The morning is to be ushered in by the discharge of
101 pieces of cannon from 24 to 48 pounders) from our new
fortification at Musqueto-Point, and so to be continued from
fort to fort round the island; and we are to conclude with
fireworks, balls, and other rejoicings.---."
