The Spaniards continuing their depredations in America, we
think it cannot be disagreeable to many of our readers, to
give the following instance of Spanish treachery, in the
reign of Queen Elizabeth, and the gallant defense of the
English extracted from the English history.
On the 26th of May, 1585, the Primrose of London, one
Foster Commander . . . was boarded the second day by the
Corrigedor, or chief magistrate of the province of Biscay. .
. [1 1/2 paragraphs] some time after, thinking the English
were off their guard, the signal to board the ship sword in
hand being given with a drum brought for that purpose, they
drew their rapiers, which 'til then were artfully concealed,
and poured into the ship with great fury, on all sides at
once. . .
