Extract of a private letter from Hague, July 5. . . . [The
French] They likewise say, that the King has wrote a letter
to the Archbishop to cause Te Deum to be sung: Nothing
however is to be gather'd from this act of praise; because
the French nation have ever been so humbled and resign'd as
to thank God for being defeated, oftner than for being
victorious.
