Ireland, Extract of letter from Dublin, January 24. A most
extraordinary affair lately happened at Corke. One Patrick
Redmond, having been condemned to be hanged for street
robbery, and great interest in vain was used to procure a
reprieve with the judge, a gentleman of fortune laid a
considerable wager, that the man should be saved
notwithstanding, provided no hint of his bett was made
public till the fellow was cut down. The man was accordingly
executed, and hung upwards of twenty minutes, when the mob
carried off the body to a place appointed, where, he was
after five or six hours, [?] brought back to life by G----,
the actor, who it seems, is also a monstrous surgeon, and
who made an incision in his windpipe, known by the medical
tribe Bronchotomy, which produced the desired effect. The
poor fellow has since received his pardon, and a genteel
collection has been made for him.
