Early on Wednesday last, the 28th regiment quartered here,
was reviewed in the Bowery by his Excellency General Gage;
where they went through the exercise, with such exactness in
firings, and manoeuvres, as gave great satisfaction to the
General, and all the Field Officers, and to a prodigious
number of ladies, gentlemen, and other inhabitants of the
city.
All the gentlemen of the Army were caparison'd as customary;
and as soon as it was over, retired with the ladies to Mr.
Jones's at Ranelagh Garden to breakfast, where they were
very sumptuously entertained.-- Soon after which they
withdrew, and in the evening repaired thither again, where
they were entertained with an elegant cold collation,
concluding with a Ball, Fire-Works, Music, as usual, &c. the
whole at the invitation of the Hon. Major Brown, of the same
regiment.
