In our last Gazette, gave an Account of the Death of Prince
Eugene of Savoy. The corps of Prince Eugene of Savoy,
having been opened, embalmed, and dressed in the uniform of
his regiment, which is scarlet laced with gold, faced with
black velvet, waistcoat. . . and upon two cutions the hat
and sword of which Pope Clement XI made a present, as being
Defender of the Faith. There were four altars on which
masses were celebrated continually for four days. While his
corps was exposed to publick view, two Franciscan Fryars
prayed constantly before it;. . . All the bells of Vienna
rung every day from 12 to one a-clock. And on the 26th past
in the evening his Highness was buried with all the honours
due to his high birth and glorious actions, in the Monument
which the Princess of Savoy and Countess of Soissons erected
in the Metropolitan Church of St. Stephen, for her deceased
husband. . .
